Properties, forms and biological effects of vitamin C in skin therapies

ABSTRACT
Due to its properties, vitamin C is one of the most popular ingredients in cosmetic products. It is found in ampoules, serums, masks, or creams. Depending on the form of the vitamin that is contained in a particular product, its action may differ. The aim of this article was to collect the latest information and analyze the results of studies on the effects of different forms of vitamin C on the skin. Vitamin C is one of the leading substances used in beauty salons as well as in-home care. It exhibits a strong antioxidant effect, protects the skin against the appearance of premature signs of skin aging, and is used in the treatment of the discoloration. There are also published reports on the use of vitamin C in therapies supporting the treatment of cancer.

Z uwagi na swoje właściwości, witamina C jest jednym z najpopularniejszych składników produktów kosmetycznych. Występuje w ampułkach, serach, maskach, kremach. Jednak w zależności od postaci jaką przyjmuje w danym produkcie, jej działanie jest odmienne. Celem artykułu był przegląd najnowszych informacji oraz analiza wyników badań dotyczących wpływu różnych form witaminy C na skórę. Witamina C jest jedną z wiodących substancji wykorzystywanych w terapiach gabinetowych, jak również w pielęgnacji domowej. Wykazuje silne działanie antyoksydacyjne, chroni skórę przed pojawieniem się przedwczesnych objawów starzenia skóry, stosowana jest w terapii przebarwień. Można również znaleźć doniesienia na temat zastosowania witaminy C w terapiach wspomagających leczenie nowotworów.
