Hormone therapy as well as home and salon skin care for women during menopause

ABSTRACT
The menopause is associated with significant changes in the functioning of the skin and its appendages, mainly resulting from a decrease in estrogen levels. This process leads to a loss of firmness and elasticity, a reduction in moisture levels, slower regeneration, and the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration. The article aimed to present the role of hormone replacement therapy in slowing down the aging process of the skin and its appendages. Skin care and regeneration treatments stimulating collagen synthesis were presented, as well as procedures targeting the reduction of discoloration, wrinkles, and improvement of skin tone, including those using technology. An interdisciplinary approach combining dermatological, cosmetological, and pharmacological therapies delays the symptoms of skin aging and improves the quality of life of women during menopause.

STRESZCZENIE
Okres menopauzy wiąże się z istotnymi zmianami w funkcjonowaniu skóry i jej przydatków, wynikającymi głównie z obniżenia poziomu estrogenów. Proces ten prowadzi do utraty jędrności, elastyczności, obniżenia poziomu nawilżenia, spowolnienia regeneracji oraz pojawienia się zmarszczek i przebarwień. Celem artykułu było przedstawienie roli hormonalnej terapii zastępczej w spowalnianiu procesów starzenia skóry oraz przydatków. Zaprezentowano zabiegi pielęgnacyjne i regenerujące skórę, stymulujące syntezę kolagenu, a także procedury ukierunkowane na redukcję przebarwień, zmarszczek oraz poprawę napięcia skóry, również z zastosowaniem technologii. Podejście interdyscyplinarne łączące terapie dermatologiczne, kosmetologiczne i farmakologiczne opóźnia objawy starzenia się skóry, a także poprawia jakości życia kobiet w okresie menopauzy.
